(This is a partial transcript of a lecture that I gave.)
"If you’re familiar with my work, you have probably heard me talk about all of this before. In various spiritual and philosophical traditions, creation is often associated with the primordial sound that brings forth the universe, or, probably the most well-known depiction is the divine word. I’m also a yoga teacher and from my own studies of yogic philosophies, the AUM is the primordial sound, which builds the universe. In Christianity, it is the word. God spoke the world into existence. In my culture, Mvskoke, it is breath. Our cultural understanding of Creator is called Hesvketvmese, which means "master of breath." In some other ancient cultures, it is song. So here we have sound, word, breath, song… They all go together; they’re all similar. This concept echoes across a myriad of cultures, revealing an inherent understanding that sound, vibration, and language are not just mere vehicles of communication but rather profound forces that shape reality as we know it.
At the core of all of these cultural understandings lies the recognition of God, or the divine living and conscious essence that created and is permeating everything in the universe. Breath, sound, word, and song all have an underlying commonality- frequency. Vibration. Through my understanding of physics, I think it is safe to say that God is this common frequency. The principle that has birthed everything into existence in this universe, that has given rise to everything alive, must also be alive, must also be intelligent, must also be everywhere.
Do I think God is like us, a material body? Not per se, but God MUST be alive in our material bodies to give it the property of life. So then God expresses through what we perceive as matter. So, God, then, is the base frequency that underlies all of material creation. In Mvskoke, we call material creation the "growing world," which implies aliveness and expansion through these principles of creation.
So, this kind of sets the tone here for fundamental frequency. God must be the fundamental frequency of everything. But did you know that we each also have a fundamental frequency of our voice, which mirrors this phenomenon? Not so surprising, since we are made in the likeness of God.
So, just as God's frequency is the foundational tone that shapes the possible range of this universe, the fundamental frequency of the human voice serves as the foundational tone that shapes our unique range of our vocal expression. In other words, this frequency determines all of the other tones in our unique vocal range. So imagine what that means for us when we vocalize anything. If God’s signature vibration sets the blueprint for the range of possibilities of the macro world, and we are made in the image of God, as in God is present and alive in us, then our personal signature vibrations set the blueprints for the range of possibilities in our micro worlds.
And a quick side note here, for those who are meeting me for the first time and are unfamiliar with my work, when I talk about God, I am not talking about religion. Religion is a manmade institution, whereas God is the law of the universe. Religion gatekeeps God, but our birthright is to personally embody God, and let God live in and be alive in us. Jesus even said so when he said, “God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” So when I talk about God, I mean the principle of Creation, the law of the universe, the spirit of animation in all life. Ok, let’s move on.
So, what is fundamental frequency?
In physics, it refers to the lowest, most basic tone that sets the stage for all other frequencies to emerge and intertwine. The fundamental frequency is often called the first harmonic and is the baseline resonance from which all other frequencies and particles are derived. Sounds like God, am I right?
In the context of the human voice, fundamental frequency is pretty much the same. It is the baseline pitch of the voice, the vocal instrument, which creates the range of possible tones an individual can make with their voice. The fundamental frequency of the human voice is obviously influenced by a lot of genetic and anatomical factors, AND how much of that is phenotypically expressed because of the energetic state of our inner landscape? I’d say quite a bit, since we know that through the field of epigenetics that the state of our internal and external environments cause certain genes to switch on and off. This also happens in utero, where the emotional, mental, environmental, and energetic state of the mother turns on and off certain genes of the unborn child, determining how the DNA is encoded and expressed, which would determine not only the size, shape, and thickness of the vocal cords, but also any unresolved traumas and conflicts.
So we could then reckon that the state of our inner world from the moment of conception, codes the genetics and energetics of our vocal cords, which then codes our fundamental frequency of voice and thus our innate and unique range of possibilities vibrationally. SO in other words, our conflicts and wounds, including generational and ancestral traumas that were passed onto us, play a direct role in the fundamental frequency of who we are… well, who we think we are anyway.
So, not only do we have a fundamental frequency of our voices, but we also have a fundamental frequency of our ENERGY, which is that inner landscape that we’re talking about. And that fundamental frequency of our energy, that baseline frequency of how we live our life, how we operate, how we make moves and conduct ourselves and our relationships, that directly affects the frequency at which our voices operate, which in turn influences how we manifest our lives and speak into existence our realities.
Sound serves as a catalyst for manifestation. We know that. It was through the nature of vibration that the cosmos was created, regardless of whether you believe in God or not. The Big Bang and Quantum Physics both postulate that the universe began from quantum fluctuations or vibrations. So it is pretty much agreed upon across all schools of thought and understanding that the cosmos came to be because of the nature of vibration. And similarly, It is through the vibratory nature of our voices that we have this extraordinary ability to mold our reality as artists, architects, and creators. The vibratory nature of our voices takes directive from and resonates with the fundamental frequency that we hold within us, and whether or not that internal fundamental frequency that drives the direction of our creation is pure or not… is up to us. It depends on the degree of our willingness to resolve the conflicts that we hold within us energetically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Our words carry immense power to create, influence, and transform our experiences, so the place within us from which our thoughts derive and our words originate, and the frequency they hold… that imbues the intention into the words. If those places are places of conflict, what do you think is going to be imbued within our words? When we speak, our words become vehicles through which our intentions OR our conflicts take form, shaping the world around us and influencing the course of our lives. Write that down.
The fundamental frequency of our voice, much like the fundamental frequency of the universe aka God, acts as a vibrational signature, kind of like a maker’s mark unique to each individual. The voice serves as a resonance chamber that amplifies the energy, whether it’s energy of resolution or conflict, and intention, whether that’s good or bad intentions, the voice amplifies all that we carry inside of us. So it is incredibly important that we cultivate awareness of the frequencies we transmit through our voice and we do that by addressing the conflicts within ourselves to bring our internal frequency into greater coherence. The shift in our inner landscape shifts the frequency of the voice and I know I keep saying this but I can’t stress it enough, the voice and our words shape the reality we manifest. We are literally speaking things into existence whether we are aware of it or not. We are signing spiritual contracts with our tongues. We are conjuring and summoning with every word we cast— words are spells, spelling, yes? Our words are either reflecting coherence or conflict. Write that down, too.
Our vocal expression, when out of alignment with the DIVINE resonance within us, aka God, is hit or miss. It isn’t precise and it isn’t pure creative principle. It is driven by something else— our wounds. Our conflicts. But when our vocal expression is IN alignment with God, which is the fundamental frequency of ALL, the voice then reflects coherence with sacred law and becomes a potent tool for co-creation and co-labor alongside God, because we are harmonized into the range of all possibilities. This is called fractality, but that’s another conversation that I talk in depth about in my Vocal Pelvic Correlation course. As we attune our fundamental frequency to that of God, our words begin to carry a different energetic signature.
More than that, the fundamental frequency of our voice extends beyond the realm of vocal expression. Before words become a vocalization, what are they? A thought. Our thoughts, beliefs, and intentions, all that we carry inside but leave unsaid, those things also carry a vibrational imprint that shapes the reality we experience. By consciously aligning our internal frequency with that of Creator, we create a powerful resonance that magnetizes circumstances, opportunities, and relationships that are in harmony with our true essence, which is love, abundance, fertility, joy, prosperity, and proliferation. It’s our true essence because our natural state of being is one of connection with Creator.
In this natural state of connection and oneness with God, we experience more connection, more authentic and prolific self-expression, more empowerment, more personal growth and fulfillment, more authentic relationships, more impact in our contributions, more genuine and prolific creativity, more abundance and prosperity (which is God's natural creation frequency). We experience MORE and MORE GOOD.
But for most of us, our voices are not in alignment with our most authentic selves, much less in alignment with God. Rather than worthiness, healthy communication and intimacy, confidence, authentic self-expression, inherent creativity, and empowerment, so many of us are experiencing lack of confidence, fear of rejection and judgment, disempowerment, the need to wear a social mask for approval, strained and shallow relationships, and the list goes on. The fundamental frequency of our internal state, that is the place inside from which we derive our power or lack thereof, is going to absolutely influence not only the voice, but everything about us, so how do we address this? We have to get to the root of the conflicts we have around our relationship with ourselves and what is keeping us from our relationship with God. We have to shift our fundamental frequency back to the fundamental frequency of all of creation, and that is God."
